Culture shock has just taken on a new meaning for me. 3 cultures in 2 weeks and losing track of which language goes where. So it was never "wow, this culture is different/wrong" as much as "crap, which language am i supposed to be using again?".
Brussels to Madrid to Grenoble to Madrid to Brussels.
You can understand why I am getting my languages confused. And I wasn't the only one.
Ok, so here's what happened. I had the opportunity and invitation to partake in GoBorderless 2013 with International Media Ministries (IMM) in Madrid. I met up with several other college students for orientation and training before we broke off into 3 teams to go to various locations. In those 1st 3 days, I met some rather fantastic people from both the US as well as Romania and the Czech Republic.

Photo Scavenger hunt |
On the 4th day (Thursday), we left for the field. I was part of the Grenoble team. We went to film the college student ministry that is in the city. We had some incredible views and incredible shots of this beautiful Alpes city. Yet is was cold. We were not expecting that. Both the Grenoble and Slovakia teams were not prepared for the weather (with Slovakia getting the worst of it). It is supposed to be warm this time of year. However, this didn't stop any of us. I met some incredible people with incredible stories. I worked with a pretty incredible team.
Unfortunately there are some drawbacks: the tram.
Yes, the cold weather and long days were not the worst of it. It was the hour long tram ride we took each day. We have determined that the tram is actually Purgatory. We were there for a while.

Flying from Madrid to Lyon |
It was a real blessing to meet everyone. My only regret is that we had less than 2 weeks time. These are people I want to keep in contact with and let the seeds we planted among one another grow. Words cannot truly describe what happened during GoBorderless. Here are just a few photos from this time. For more, check the TC Photos tab for more.
Vlog #2 in the works.

The Bastille. This inspired the storming of the one in Paris. Grenoble will always be a city of resistance and revolution. |
