No, this is not a selfie. I'm placing my GoPro to take video. |
That being said, today's filming has been a wonderful experience. Mostly wonderful. I had a few issues. One of which was getting up at the unholy hour of 7 am. What? I like sleep. The second was the fact that one of the machines at the metro/RER wouldn't take my ticket. It only does that if they got demagnetized...and they weren't this time. The machine was being a pain. Also, why the heck do i have to scan my ticket again to LEAVE THE STATION. That makes no sense. The French...
Had some some issues finding the church. It meets in a hotel conference center. Little did I know that i was standing across from it when i called the missionary.
But I digress.
As i just mentioned, the church meets in a hotel. Why? From what i've gathered from my time in Grenoble, it is hard to get a place to have a church. There are a lot of hoops to jump through. But the church seems to be doing well, and that is excellent. It's an international church in Paris. Which means it is an english service with people from all over the world. I do enjoy international churches.
The service was a simple contemporary service. Nothing flashy or showy. Nice and simple.
The people were really friendly too. Several came up to me and talked before and after the service. This has been fairly consistent with most of the churches I have visited here (with Christian Center being the exception). I wish more churches back home would be like this. That is what attracted me to St Andrew's...that and it is a 30 second walk from my front door.
But once again, I digress.
There is only so much i can film during the service. The big focus is the people. And with people still coming back from break. It was not a bad sized congregation for what it's worth. But with people coming back from the holidays this week, it also means other aspects of the ministry are not up and running. So not a lot to film this week. I have an interview to capture and some city b-roll to get.
All things considering, it is a good finishing project. Its simple. And sometimes simple is overlooked and underrated. There is a beauty to it.
Update: Did the last interview today. Really enjoyed my time with Todd and got to know him out from behind the camera. Great guy, great family, great ministry. I was glad to be able to do this one last interview.
