Go Pro shot from the table. Using a standard run-and-gun handheld setup. |
Before you ask, no, I have not taken up the habit of drinking coffee. I am a tea drinker all the way. What this actually is about is my first story shoot. Everything up till now has been stock footage. Friday was my first day of shooting B roll for one of the stories.
The house I live in is also there Students for Christ Brussels meets. Charles heads that up. One thing he, a few other missionaries from Columbia, and students do every other friday is hand out free coffee near one of the universities. I had the privilege to tag along and film.
It was interesting to observe people and the conversations that Charles had. We had a white board with a question written. This week's was "How do you find true love?". From there the discussions evolve when they find out that we are a bunch of Christians. People want to talk about God, or at least their views on Him. I only understood one conversation.
It was a lot of fun. Finally got to use my audio gear on a shoot. This is only the second actual day of shooting I've done and the first for one of the stories. I am feeling very excited. Still a bit rusty, but I did capture some good results. I'll get better. Between my Go Pro (1h 1/2 worth of footage) and my 60D (filled a 16 gb card) I have quite a bit to work with.
This is only the beginning. That being said, it feels great to be doing some honest film work again. This is what I was made to do.
For now, here are some more stills pulled from footage.

Haha, I looked at the pictures before reading the post, and no kidding the FIRST question that came to mind (after reading the caption "One of the perks of working this sort of ministry: enjoying the free coffee you provide") was "Wait a minute...does Steve drink coffee now?! Haha, thanks for clearing that up in the post.
